I have assembled a new PC on the ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer/3.1
Booting up the PC for the first time the onboard display showed first 19 then b6 I assembled with the Intel i7-6850K CPU and G.skill 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 (4*8GB). I placed the memory in A1, B1, C1 and D1 according to the manual. I even tried to remove the modules in C1 and D1, but still the same error is shown.

Is your BIOS up to date? The new Broadwell-E CPUs require BIOS version 3.0 or later.

Could that be the reason? I haven't updated the BIOS. Unless the MB has the newest BIOS from retailer I am probably on stock P1.00
I was kinda hoping I could boot into the BIOS to update it to support Broadwell-E.
If the problem was that the BIOS didn't support the CPU shouldn't I get a different error message? |

The memory controller on the CPU is different compared to Haswell-E so yes it is most likley the cause. There isn't an error code for "Unsupported CPU" so there likely wouldn't be a CPU specific code given the new CPUs are pin compatible to Haswell-E.
Your options are: 1. Take the board back to the retailer (assuming a physical store) or a Tech company and get them to flash the BIOS for you. 2. Borrow a Haswell-E CPU from a friend and flash to the latest version. 3. Order a preflashed BIOS chip from ASRock directly and install it. Your DR. Debug codes are in line with other users that did not have a supporting BIOS so I am fairly certain that is the issue. Sadly ASRock does not have an implementation that allows you to flash the BIOS without a supported CPU so the options listed above are your only real choices. Good luck and let us know how it goes

I think I have to go for option 3 and purchase a BIOS chip from ASRock.
It doesn't seem like they ship to Europa. That link was for USA support/RMA. Edit: I have just sent an email to ASRock. Hope they can comply with a BIOS chip.
