Yep! Double check the website for new BIOS versions for your MOBO. For my microATX Phantom Lightning/D4, my BIOS was like six versions behind.

I bought a new RTX 5070 Gigabyte Aero graphics card when connected to my Z390 motherboard
Phantom Gaming 7, which has pcie3, turns the whole computer into potatoes. Everything becomes wildly slow and laggy from the start of the bios. The latest drivers are installed. I found on the Internet that I am not alone with this problem and there is some solution. it is necessary to downgrade the version from gen3 to gen2 in the BIOS. It helped. the computer is working as usual. but there are noticeable microfreezes in games. and the harder the game is, the more pronounced and frequent the microfreezes are. this is probably due to the reduced bandwidth. but why doesn't it work in gen3? perhaps the motherboard needs a new patch? or a problem with your graphics card. I have contacted the graphics card manufacturer and am waiting for a response from them. I also wrote you an email to get any information. The graphics card should work even in gen3 as well as in gen2. but it doesn't. Can you help me? I also forgot to mention. In gen3 mode pcie, the graphics card constantly loses signal, every few minutes. even the BIOS may lose the signal. Also, sometimes after the loss of the video signal, the entire computer goes into reboot. there is no such thing in gen2 mode. |

PCIe generation compatibility can be problematic. Given the RTX 5070 is Gen 4 it
may be that Nvidia did not implement proper support for Gen 3. It's more than simple bandwidth allocation, there are other factors at play. Have you tried the GPU in other slots on the board? Your slots are as follows: PCIe1 = x16 PCIe4 = x8 PCIe6 = x4 Limiting the lanes could possibly allow you to select Gen3 and sidestep your issues. It's worth trying. Outside of that you can open a support ticket with ASRock and inquire with them, they may be able to at least provide some insight. |

I've written to technical support, but I haven't received a response yet. I also contacted Gigabyte, they said that the problem was with the motherboard and that the manufacturer should release a new firmware for it. Yesterday I installed the latest beta version of the firmware on the motherboard, the video card began to work faster on the desktop, video signal losses became rare, but there is still no way to play games on gen3. there are severe lags, the percentage of video card downloads jumps a lot. The problem is that this firmware is very old and dates back to 2021. She slightly improved compatibility by adding a resizable bar in the latest update, but this has not yet completely solved the problem with gen3.
